Recap
How it went
Our first conference of the year
Vincent and Soufian opened 2026 in San Francisco at a vetted, deliberately small gathering: the kind of room where you talk to the people running internet-scale infrastructure rather than to a marketing team.
A vendor-free room, under Chatham House Rule
Team Cymru run RISE for CISOs, security architects, threat analysts and law enforcement investigators, with unpublished research shared under the Chatham House Rule and practitioner-led Operator Labs on hunting and incident response. There is a "Sharper Room" with no vendors in it. We will describe the format and leave the content where it was shared.
It started something
RISE is Team Cymru’s community, and February was our way into it. By September we are a Gold Sponsor of their Underground Economy conference in Strasbourg, with Soufian selected to present. That is roughly how these rooms are supposed to work.
Who was there
Pick up where we left off.
If you met us at RISE SF, or meant to, write to whoever is closest to your work.
Vincent Thiele
Co-Founder & COO
Twenty-five years across finance, government and technology, most of it on your side of the table: Head of Operations for ING Bank’s CISO department, CISO at Cybersprint, then Deputy CISO at Darktrace. A former FS-ISAC board member and current CSIRT.global board member, so he has sat through the vendor conversation from the buying seat.
Soufian El Yadmani
Founder & CEO
Researcher and ethical hacker, and the person who will happily open the platform and pivot through your indicator with you. Alongside Modat he is Head of Research at CSIRT.global and finishing a PhD at Leiden University on threat actor attribution and hacking automation. He speaks regularly at RISE, FIRST and FS-ISAC.
Where we are going next
Four conferences before the end of the year, including a talk in Strasbourg.
